Jonny Farmer AKA SYNTHAGEDON is a Synthwave DJ, Music Producer, Curator, Events Organiser and Promotor based in Sheffield, UK. He is the Co-founder of Steel City Synthwave, and also founder of our partner platform and music label SYNTHAGEDDON.

His first Synthwave initiative SYNTHAID was a twin charity compilation album that raised over $1,500 and showcased over 60 different acts and collaborators in support of the global humanitarian aid movement Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders.

Jonny has a degree in Scriptwriting for Film and Television, as well as a background in amateur film production. Born in 1980 and growing up in central England, he decided to make the move to Sheffield in his early 30s after falling in love with the laid back and free-spirited nature of the city that he now calls home. Music, movies and computer games have always been his main passions, especially those from the 80s and 90s.

He discovered Synthwave through the Kavinsky track “Nightcall”, which led him to watch the movie “Drive”, and like so many of us that have become obsessed with this movement, he quickly became immersed and has never looked back.

The mission and mantra of SYNTHAGEDDON and now Steel City Synthwave has been and always will be to share this music and way of life that we love, but also to make it more accessible to everyone, both online and in the real world with live events. In this digital world that we live in, it’s more important than ever to connect with one another and share in the joys of our common interests.

“I started out as a simple fan of the scene on Twitter in the winter of 2015. Never could I have imagined I would have curated my own albums, created a media platform and started putting together live events. My love for Synthwave took over my life and I found my calling. Go after what you love and do it with passion.”
